Chicago Manufacturing Campus

The Chicago Manufacturing Campus was the supplier park for the Ford Assembly plant on the south side of Chicago. The Tower Automotive building was the largest and most complex of the buildings. Building functions included robotic welding, stamping of metal sheets, pit collection of metal for recycling, and a painting line. The architecture was designed around the process to be the most efficient to run and manage.
Raw materials came in one set of overhead doors and exited as finished product from doors 1,000 feet away. Depending on the day, the finished product may be delivered to another building on campus for further assembly, or it may have been sent directly to the Ford plant across the street.
